With March not quite providing the spring weather we’d hoped for, our sights are firmly set on the summer months ahead, kicking off with arguably the best month to be in Brighton, May. There’s plenty of cool things to do, from cultural events to charity football matches!

Brighton Community Kitchen Opening

Once just a pipe dream, the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership have proved just what can be achieved with a mix of community spirit (and support), a dash of generous funding and a bloomin? good idea! The organisation have been teaching cookery classes to pockets of the community for over ten years, and have decided to expand and open their own premises located on Queen?s Road Brighton, just a short stroll from the train station. As well as holding community classes for the elderly and vulnerable, they will also open up the space for hire to local Chefs and pop up food events. The Brighton food scene is gathering pace and we feel that this is going to bring a fantastic community spirit to the city. The kitchen opens in May and lessons will run from June.

Brighton Fringe Festival

Rolling into town from the 4th May to the 3rd June, The Brighton Fringe is reason enough to make a trip to the city, and if you?re lucky enough to live centrally then what a treat awaits! From acrobatics to art installations, there really is something for everyone, especially the kids. The famous Spiegeltent houses most of the theatrics followed closely by The Warren (near St Peter?s Church) but the scope of venues grows each year, with events being held in small cafes and even the old Police Cells under the Town Hall. If you love a good nosy around people?s houses (who doesn?t?) then the Artist Open Houses will be right up your street – the Stanley Road store always is a good destination, and Preston Park holds plenty of ?wow? abodes to marvel at.
