After many applications, considerations, team zoom meetings… we are thrilled to announce that the chosen Creative Blend Charity of The Year 2021 is… Off The Fence! #charitycommitment

Off The Fence is a Brighton-based charity that has been working with the homeless, vulnerable women and children in education since 1997. Their mission is to eradicate social and spiritual poverty in Brighton & Hove, engaging with individuals to create a new level of hope in the City.

In practical terms, what Off The Fence do is:

Support for the homeless

Through their ‘Project Antifreeze’ they provide food, hot drinks, sleeping bags and hygiene items to local homeless. They also help them find accommodation they can keep, empowering clients to thrive, not just survive. They also run Mobile Hygiene Vans where homeless can have showers and laundry vans, where they can get wash and dry their clothes – all from a van!

Support for women in crisis

Off The Fence also run the Gateway Women’s Centre which provides a welcoming, safe space for women going through a time of crisis or emotional difficulty.  Trained staff are here to listen in a confidential and caring environment. Providing important support services as well as fun, community and friendship, they are able to offer opportunities for women to improve self-confidence, develop life skills, build resilience and reduce isolation.

Support for Schools and Youth

Their Schools Team currently works in 15 primary and secondary schools across the Brighton & Hove area delivering weekly clubs, workshops and 1-1 support, as well as pioneering prayer and reflection spaces.

They also offer 1-2-1 mentoring to help students find positive ways of dealing with the challenges they face in a non-judgmental safe environment, as well as offering transition mentoring through the move from primary to secondary school.

Needless to say, it was a very tough call, as all of the charity applications were so meaningful and expressed a real desire to make an impact in our community, but we were blown away by the range of support activities Off The Fence offer, their enthusiasm, community spirit.
