About Pelican Parcels
Pelican Parcels is a charity designed to support disadvantaged families in Brighton & Hove. The charity was founded by Shelley and James Bennett in 2018. They wanted to gift some of their cherished, but no longer used, baby items to families in need and realised that there wasn’t a way to do that so they decided to start Pelican Parcels.
How do they help?
Pelican Parcels support children and parents in Sussex experiencing hardship by working in partnership with local council services such as health visitors, social workers, women’s shelters and other charities and agencies. It’s worth noting that they?don’t support individuals or families directly. But you can ask your health visitor, children’s centre or social worker to contact them and make a referral on your behalf.
Their service is provided free with no assessment criteria – it’s really all about collecting the pre-loved items so they can make sure they get distributed asap.

How does it work?
Do you have baby items that you’d like to donate to Brighton & Hove families in need? Here’s what you need to do:

- Please ensure items are clean and in the best condition/working order possible
- Once you have an appointment, simply head over to their HQ at?24A Castle Street, Brighton, BN1 2HD.
Last year for their?first Christmas they gave out 600 presents. This year their festive fundraising campaign aims to donate even more gifts to local families who can?t afford Christmas presents. After such a difficult time,?the need this year will sadly be greater than ever.
