Off The Fence | Charity of the Year

The Brief:

Supporting charities during the Covid-19 pandemic was an important part of our marketing strategy in 2021. After reviewing many applications, we offered our Charity Commitment to local charity, Off The Fence.

If you’ve never heard of them, Off The Fence offers support to people who are homeless, vulnerable women, and children through different projects and local initiatives. Their work truly inspired us.

A small charity with big marketing ambitions, we committed to providing them with free marketing services every month for 6 months. Here’s how we supported them:

The Approach:

We first met their lovely team online and agreed that the main goal for all of us was to optimise the current marketing channels and support them in raising awareness of Off The Fence’s activities in Brighton & Hove. Followed by monthly catch-up calls, we worked together to spread awareness of all the fantastic work they do in our community.

UX review
The first thing we did was to review Off The Fence’s website and make recommendations on their user experience (UX). This meant reviewing their different web pages, and ensuring there were no major obstacles for people to find information and proceed with transactions.

 

Social media optimisation

While web opportunities were being discovered, our marketing team conducted an audit of Off The Fence’s social media platforms and recommended different approaches to content display and identity presentation. We worked together with Off The Fence’s social media team to ensure best practices were in place and their communities were being supported in the best possible way.

Email marketing optimisation
We also reviewed their email marketing campaigns, and made recommendations on improvements and quick wins. From improving the design of Off The Fence’s newsletters to tips on deliverability, we supported Roy and his team with the preparations of their flagship event, The Big Sleep Out and all the comms around this.

 

SEO audit and optimisation

As part of our free marketing support we analysed Off The Fence’s website from a search perspective. Our SEO ninja Liam discovered opportunities for new search rankings and updated their website’s backend to ensure Off The Fence is found by more users that might need their services.
