The Brief

St Catherine’s Hospice is a well respected and loved charity in the Sussex and Surrey area who have been providing fantastic hospice care for many years.

We were introduced to Alison at the beginning of the year and it was clear from the outset there was a desire to do more with their email marketing solution. As with any charity, budgets and large changes were an initial discussion point. However after many years working with our local charities we approached the project with a light touch & consideration to the limitations of the hospice.

Because of the team’s desire to make the email marketing solution work harder, we dove straight into the data and email marketing engagement rates to see what worked & what clearly didn’t. After a full analysis of the template and past sends we came to the conclusion a lot did work; open rates were fair & engagement rates were steady, but there were a few improvements to be made…

The Approach

As mentioned above our initial exploration into the data suggested things weren’t in a dire state however there were a few code based issues and layout problems which we sought to address. Our first step was to run a complete series of testing across 70+ email clients & browsers to isolate any bugs. Once the development bugs had been squashed it was onto the layout.

To wrap up the project we then focused our attentions on the restructuring of the template to follow best practice methodology & restructuring the content layout to work in a more logical format. These changes brought elements such as social media into the template as a more primary engagement call-to-action, we also reviewed button placement alongside a persuasive engagement line.

Creative Blend worked with us to make our fundraising e-newsletters work harder for us. The team were easy to work with, with great communication and I’d definitely work with them again.

Working with the team at St Catherine’s Hospice we were able to deliver the updates to the template in a quick manner allowing for the updated template to be used for their next large event! It was an absolute pleasure working with the hospice team & getting this updated template ready for their on-going use.
