Whoopsadaisy | Marketing basics training
Whoopsadaisy | Marketing basics training
The Brief:
Whoopsadaisy are a wonderful local charity who help children with cerebral palsy and other motor conditions to reach their full potential. We’ve been working with Whoopsadaisy all this year as part of our charity commitment to incrementally improve their website, adding video capabilities and improving the user experience without them having to invest in a redesign.?
Running with a very small team, it’s certainly ‘all hands on deck’ and we wanted to help the team feel confident tackling some basic parts of their marketing.

Three of us from Whoopsadaisy charity attended a presentation with Alex at Creative Blend, the workshop was tailored for all our specific needs, she was well prepared, informative, thorough and very professional. I would highly recommend her to any business who needs help with any of their digital problems.

The Approach:
We planned half a day training with the core team on marketing basics, tailored to them, on WordPress, Mailchimp and Social Media. The aim was not to teach them everything about these tools, but teach them smart ways to get the most out of them in the little time they have available.
It’s an important part of being an ethical agency to empower our clients, so it was great to put this together and work through it collaboratively. We made sure to use relevant examples, practical walk-throughs and simple language to make the session both accessible and useful (we even got quite a number of jobs and fixes done during the session as we went!).
We taught the team how to update their WordPress site themselves to keep it up to date, and how to add new events and a news area, leaving behind a dummy post full of instructions and handy tips. We then walked through social media talking about which platforms were right for them, time-saving tricks and how to make social work harder as a fundraising tool. Finally, we taught the team how to pick up Mailchimp and the best ways to start growing their list.
It was important throughout to not only capture any other frustrations or questions but also to plan out future ambitions and hopes as the charity grows. We also went over latest best practice required by businesses to conform with GDPR.
We look forward to supporting the team as they put their learnings into action. Visit the Whoopsadaisy website here.
